  Facebook announced today that it is releasing Home, a new skin for Android phones that places Facebook front and center on Android phones.   HFM Account Settings: Social Networks Connections 

  As part of the recent upgrade and redesign to the site, we have moved the tab to connect your social networks. The buttons to connect your Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr accounts to Headliner are now located under Account Settings.

  Account Settings is also where you will find the Media tab for adding Soundcloud or Vimeo files to your profile. You can also find a record of all your transactions and info on subscriptions.

  Connect Your Tumblr to Headliner! 

  Great news, Tumblr members!

  Now you can connect your Tumblr account to Headliner.fm and reach an even wider audience. To connect your Tumblr to Headliner, simply follow the three easy steps below.

  Step 1: Register or log into Headliner with a social login or email address. Under Account Settings, look for the social networks tab and authorize your preferred networks.

  

  Step 2: Authorize Headliner to access your Tumblr account. Once you allow access, you should see our Headliner app in your authorized apps tab on Tumblr.

  

  Step 3: Create a promotion, and select Tumblr to include users who have also connected Tumblr to Headliner .

  The Value of Reach: “Making Digital Brand Campaigns Better” 

  From Facebook Studio blog:

  “Today at IAB MIXX, Brad Smallwood, Facebook’s Head of Measurement and Insights, discussed findings from a study conducted in partnership with Datalogix—using a new tool that connects ad exposure (seeing a brand’s ad) on Facebook with in-store purchases (buying the brand’s product).”

  After analyzing 50 digital campaigns, they came up with the following key conclusions. [Emphasis in italics is ours.]

  • Impressions create value. 99 percent of sales generated from online branding ad campaigns were from people that saw, but did not interact with, ads— proof that it is the delivery of the marketing message to the right consumer, not the click, that creates real value for brand advertisers.
  • Reach drives revenue for online brand marketers. This is a concept very familiar to TV marketers, who often start with a reach objective—but until now hadn’t been proven for online. When applied to digital brand campaigns, the study demonstrated that campaigns that maximized reach had on average a 70 percent higher return-on-investment.
  • Finding the right message frequency is key. The study revealed that for online brand campaigns, if you reallocated high frequency impressions to people seeing too few impressions, you would see a 40 percent increase in ROI with the same budget. What this means is that for every online campaign there is a “sweetspot” of effective frequency that maximizes return on investment, and that the DataLogix tool can help marketers empirically isolate that sweetspot for each brand and campaign.

  Takeaway: If you’re frustrated because you are not seeing a direct, instant correlation between reaching people and getting them to buy your stuff, you’re not alone. Show your stuff frequently enough to the right people and you will start to reap the value of reach.

  Social Media’s Impact on Digital Music Sales 

  Via ReadWriteWeb:  ”according to data from Next Big Sound. For 38% of musicians, Facebook views had a significant effect on album sales, a stronger impact than traditional radio plays had. Vevo, YouTube and SoundCloud all ranked highly as well.”

  No surprise that artist websites come first, but it’s interesting to note that Wikipedia ranks 4th, just below Facebook and Radio. “The Future Of Music Is… Wikipedia??” Who would have thunk it?

  The difference between Facebook Pages and Profiles, and how to connect Pages to Headliner.fm. 

  If you’re new to Headliner.fm and are having trouble connecting your Facebook account, it maybe because you are trying to connect a profile and not a page. Headliner can only connect Facebook Pages, not Profiles.

  The easiest way to understand to understand the difference is that when a new person looks at a profile, they see an Add Friend” button and when a new person looks at a Fan Page, they see a “Like” button. You can easily see the difference in the screen grabs below. [Thanks to Dizz "Darryl" Johnson for letting us use his pages as examples.]

  This is a Page, note the “Like” button.

  If you don’t have a Facebook page yet, you can set one up easily by following the instructions here: Create a Page on Facebook.

  

  Once you’ve set up your Page, let us know and we’ll like it from our Headliner page. New pages take a while to show up on Headliner, so dont’ worry if yours isn’t visible right away; once our systems update, you will see your new Facebook listed as option when you try to connect it to Headliner. Note: to connect a Page, you must be the owner or have administrator permission.
