    Thom Yorke Blogs About Climate Change

    Some people get irritated when musicians take political stances, but politics has always been a part of music. Way before Woody Guthrie picked up a guitar, battle hymns and songs of resistance fueled social movements. Tom Yorke has recently decided to use his celebrity as a vehicle for his own political leanings and has written a couple blog posts reporting from the Global Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark.     Copyright Criminals to Air on PBS

    Since Hiphop’s inception DJ’s and producers have utilized sampling to create undeniable catchy songs with questionable implications. The first rap song to hit the radio The Sugar Hill Gang’s seminal “Rapper’s Delight” powered its way into the ears of America on the back of Chic’s funky “Good Times” bass line. Is sampling plagiarism or tribute? A new documentary Copyright Criminals tackles the history, and issues at the center, of the sampling debate.
