    NPR Discussion on the Role of The Record Label 

    A little late on this one, but if you haven’t seen it, there is an interesting discussion on the future of the record label on NPR.com. In a round table discussion moderated by Carrie Brownstein several influential managers and independent record label owners, including Gerard Cosley of Matador, discuss the new music industry. Among the unanimous agreements: Pitchfork is the most influential music reviewer today. Check out the full discussion here.

    The Secret of Stradivarius 

    From 1698-1720 Antonio Stradivari dominated the world of instrument making, producing a series of violins that have yet to be outdone. Rumor had it that Stradivari’s secret was in a specially created secret varnish recipe, but a recent analysis of the composition of the varnish used on the violins has yielded an interesting result.
